  • Background:  Europe and Asia, introduced as farming meat animals

  • Breeding: Polyamory mating system, can produce 2 litters per year.

  • Impacts: Eat new-born lambs, damage water sources, fences, pasture and agricultural crops. The costs to farmers amount to more than $100 million a year. Cause damage to the environment through wallowing, rooting for food, competition with native species, hosts and vectors of spread for parasites and leptospirosis (porcine brucellosis), which can affect other animals and people.
